Firefighter Hospitalized as Flames Flared Up Friday Night at Salem Recycling Business

One firefighter is hospitalized following Friday night’s fire at a Salem business.

Fire officials say crews were called to LL&S Wood Recycling on Lowell Road in Salem early Friday evening, arriving to find a major blaze in progress.

Firefighters needed several hours to get the blaze under control.

One firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Authorities say the firefighter is expected to recover.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
