First In The Nation Presidential Primary in Jeopardy?
The Democratic National Committee has approved a plan that could affect New Hampshire’s status as having the party’s first presidential primary. Yesterday, the DNC’s rules and bylaws committee said states will have to apply for their position on the primary calendar and need to meet certain criteria to become one of the first nominating contests. The criteria includes diversity, feasibility, and competitiveness.
Speaking with Mike Pomp on the Morning Information Center, NH Governor Chris Sununu says this is concerning.
The executive director of the state Democratic Committee says he has no doubt New Hampshire will keep its first-in-the nation primary status. Saint Anselm College Professor Chris Galdieri said New Hampshire has a lot of work to do if it wants to keep its first-in-the-nation status.
