The football world is mourning the passing of Hall of Famer John Madden.
He died yesterday, sending a shockwave through the sports world.
The 85-year-old is remembered as one of the best broadcasters in the game, working on every network for three decades.
He won 16 Emmy awards and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
He’s also a video game icon, with EA Sports saying he’ll never be forgotten.
Lee Goldberg was the Sports Director for 26 years at WCSH-6 TV in Portland, Maine.
“Madden’s legacy lives on through all aspects of the sport. He helped make Thanksgiving Day football must-see TV”, Goldberg told Good Morning NH.
Goldberg also talked about meeting Madden in February of 2002, at Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans.
He joked about Madden’s comments about Quarterback Tom Brady saying “take a knee to get the game into overtime and not try to win with a field goal.
