Former Portsmouth Cop Due in Court on Assault, Disorderly Conduct Charges
A former local police detective is facing charges for his alleged participation in a fight last year inside a Portsmouth restaurant.
Court officials say 45-year-old Aaron Goodwin surrendered to New Hampshire troopers on Friday.
He was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct charges for his alleged role in late-night altercation at Gilley’s Diner on Fleet Street on November 22nd, 2023.
The alleged victim, Mamadou Dembele, claims Goodwin instigated the fight due to racial animus.
Trial in the case is set to start April 22nd in Portsmouth District Court.
