The investigation continues into what led up to a crash in Cheshire County that involved a school bus. A car was heading south on Route 12 in Walpole yesterday when it crossed the center line and struck the bus near Connector Road. The driver of that car, 22-year-old Dietrich Praska, passed away at the scene. The bus driver was airlifted to a hospital in Massachusetts for treatment. Drugs and alcohol aren’t believed to be factors in the tragedy.
The NH state Attorney General’s Office is releasing autopsy results of a man who died during a standoff in Plymouth. Authorities say 58-year-old Kevin Steinfeldt died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Law enforcement were involved in a standoff with Steinfeldt for almost ten hours last Thursday at the Federal House Inn on Route 25. Steinfeldt was the owner of the inn and was also hit by gunshots fired by police.
A former Keene resident is going to be spending the next 30 months behind bars. That was the sentence handed down to 39-year-old Stephanie Pratt after her guilty plea to wire fraud. From 2015 until 2021, Pratt stole more than 500-thousand dollars from the company she worked at. Pratt used the funds for things like a hot tub and tickets to a New England Patriots football game. Once she’s released from custody, Pratt is going to be on probation for three years.
