Governor Sununu Signs Vessel Cutoff-Switch Mandate for Certain Boats
Granite State officials are hailing that will mandate cut-off switches on some powerboats.
House Bill 1045, which was signed into law recently by Governor Chris Sununu, applies to powerboats that are less than 26 feet long and are equipped with engines generating at least three horsepower.
Vessels affected by the mandate reportedly must be operated at headway speed or higher when in the water.
Officials say the law does not apply to powerboats with enclosed cabins or equipped with engines manufactured before 2020 that are equipped with cut-off switches.
The law is set to go into effect on August 15th.
