Governor Surprised by McAuliffe Statue Opposition
Governor Chris Sununu said he was surprised that last week’s Executive Council’s vote in favor of a Christa McAuliffe statue was not unanimous.
The Legislature approved $250,000 for a statute of the Concord teacher who died the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
Councilor Joseph Kenney said the statue should be privately funded.
Councilor David Wheeler was opposed to its location on the State House Lawn.
