Hampton Woman in Custody After She Allegedly Opened Fire Through Neighbor’s Door

A Hampton woman is in custody after she allegedly fired a single round into her neighbor’s apartment hours before dawn on Friday.

Local police say officers called to the Old English Apartments on Winnacunnet Road at around 3:15 a.m. following a report that a woman was banging on her neighbor’s door.

Shortly after 7 a.m., officers were called back to the scene on a report that someone had fired a single round through the original caller’s door.

Department sources say 38-year-old Erin McCarthy was subsequently taken into custody and hit with multiple felony charges.

She is due in court tomorrow.

No injuries were reported.
