Investigation Underway Into Cause of Smell at Turnkey Landfill
An investigation is underway into what’s causing a foul smell to come from the Turnkey Landfill in Rochester.
The 1300-acre facility contains over 20 million tons of solid waste.
Gases from that waste are used as fuel, and people in the area say the odor has gotten worse in recent months.
Waste Management believes the problem may be connected to the large amount of rainfall that’s fallen this year.
Right now, emissions are at a safe level and don’t pose a threat to public health.
