Laconia Inmate Who Exploited Hospital Visit to Escape Custody Back Behind Bars
A local inmate accused of exploiting a hospital visit to escape custody last weekend is facing new charges in Belknap County.
Officials say 41-year-old Anthony Clark had been released on personal recognizance bail, which means he was unsupervised during his hospital visit.
However, instead of returning to the county jail, he cut off his ankle monitor and fled from the Laconia facility.
Police reportedly didn’t get word of his disappearance until almost a day later.
On Thursday, U.S. Marshals arrested Clark – who faces assault and domestic-violence charges – in Lynn, Massachusetts. Additional charges are pending.
