Man Hospitalized After Fire Levels Barn in Barnstead

A man is hospitalized after a boat he was working on caught fire and sparked a larger blaze that destroyed a barn Saturday in Barnstead.

Local fire officials say crews were called to the blaze at 557 Beauty Hill Road around 4 p.m. on a report that a woman was having trouble breathing just minutes before a report of a barn fire came in.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the two-and-a-half-story structure engulfed in flames.

The fire was deemed under control around 6:30 p.m.

The man was treated for burns to his hands and arms and is expected to recover.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
