Missing 7-Year-Old from Lowell Found Dead in Merrimack River
According to The Union Leader, Anna Mburu, the 7-year-old Lowell girl who went missing Sunday afternoon, was found dead in the Merrimack River.
The Lowell Police Department confirmed the discovery of the child’s body just before noon on Monday.
Massachusetts State Police confirmed troopers pulled her body from the river after dive teams found her.
Two divers in the water located and recovered Anna’s body, and police said she was in about eight feet of water about 15 to 20 yards from the shore.
Anna went missing between 2 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Lowell police said in a statement.
She was in the area of East Merrimack Street in the Belvidere neighborhood.
Her family lives on Geana Lane.
Anna was on the autism spectrum and had limited communication ability, police said.
