Mosquitoes Test Positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus in New Castle

NH State health officials say a batch of mosquitoes captured in New Castle has tested positive for the Jamestown Canyon virus.

The virus can cause potentially serious illness.

They say most of the time, a person bitten by a mosquito with the virus does not come down sick or experiences mild symptoms, such as a fever.

If the illness progresses, however, it can become serious and lead to meningitis.
