Mural Of Escaped Slave Owned By Washington’s Family

A mural depicting escaped slave Ona Judge is now on display in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Judge was 22-years-old when she escaped from George Washington and lived the rest of her life as a free woman in New Hampshire.

The mural is part of the Black Heritage Trail.

The artist who painted the mural says he wants it to remind people of Ona’s courage.
