The process of passing a brand-new state budget is moving ahead after a vote in the New Hampshire House. Yesterday, lawmakers approved a two-year, over 16-billion dollar fiscal plan that made major cuts to the courts, human services and higher education. The budget now advances to the State Senate for review. If passed there it’d be up to Governor Ayotte to sign the budget before it can go into effect.

A new report from the state Department of Health and Human Services shows this flu season has been the Granite State’s deadliest one on record. So far, at least 71 people have passed away after contracting that virus, and at least one flu-related death occurred in every county. New Hampshire started tracking this data during the 1994-1995 season. Flu is still considered widespread and folks are urged to take proper precautions so they can avoid getting sick.

A man has been arraigned for his role in what’s being called an accidental shooting in Nashua that left a teenager hurt. The incident involving 19-year-old Damari Robinson and the 15-year-old happened Wednesday at a home on Shedds Avenue. Robinson found a gun that was not secured in the residence and at one point a bullet was fired that struck the teen in the shoulder, causing him to suffer a non-life threatening injury. Robinson is being held on preventative detention ahead of his next court appearance.
