The New Hampshire State Supreme Court today denied Pamela Smart’s petition to compel the governor and the New Hampshire Executive Council to reconsider her request for a commutation hearing. Justices ruled that they could not compel the executive branch to comply with the request and dismissed Pamela Smart’s petition for “lack of jurisdiction.” Pamela Smart has served more than 30 years in prison after she was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and accomplice to first-degree murder in the death of her husband Gregg Smart, who was found shot to death in the couple’s Derry condominium on May 1, 1990. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. 

Authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide after two adults were found dead inside a Dover residence yesterday. The New Hampshire attorney general announced today that Dover police found the two people deceased in the single-family home where they lived. Police had originally responded to the home to conduct a welfare check. The identities of the deceased were not immediately released. At this time, authorities are investigating this as a possible murder and suicide of the residents living at that location. Autopsies are expected to be performed tomorrow. 

The investigation continues into what caused a crash in East Kingston that left one person dead and three others injured. State Police say the single-vehicle accident happened yesterday on Route 107A, which is also known as Burnt Swamp Road. The adult male driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, while an adult female passenger was taken by medical flight, to a Boston area hospital. Also in the vehicle were two children, a 9-month-old and a 3-year-old who both sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash.  The names of the people in the vehicle haven’t been released. A preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed was a contributing factor for this crash. 

Many towns held voting across New Hampshire yesterday after a March Nor’easter caused them to be rescheduled two weeks ago. According to the Secretary of State’s office, voter turnout was light around the state. Town budgets were passed in the towns of Alton Barrington, Barnstead, Hooksett, Hopkinton, Milton, and Nottingham
