An investigation is still underway into the tragic death of a 12-year-old boy at Cranmore Mountain in North Conway. A report was received on Tuesday of an unconscious skier and authorities say it appears the boy hit a tree while skiing on the Bandit Trail. Ski patrollers performed CPR at the scene but the child could not be saved. The resort says it is saddened by his loss and offered condolences to the boy’s family.
One person is recovering from serious injuries after being the victim of a shooting in Manchester. The incident happened last night in the area of Central Street and Union Street in the city. The person, whose name hasn’t been released, was rushed to a hospital but there’s no word on their condition. Police also haven’t said if an arrest has been made in this case.
The woman who has been serving as U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire is leaving the position. Jane Young was appointed by President Biden in 2022 after previously working as the state’s deputy attorney general. Young is a New Hampshire native and has been a prosecutor for more than three decades. In a statement, she said she’s impressed by the dedication and commitment to justice shown by fellow prosecutors, staff and law enforcement. Her final day is January 17th.
Planning is underway for the upcoming inauguration of Governor-elect Kelly Ayotte. The ceremony is happening next week, and in the aftermath of violent incidents in Las Vegas and New Orleans, security is expected to be tight. Officials say they already have a plan in place to try and keep everyone safe and they’re asking the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
