Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a home in Hampton last night. The Hampton Fire Department were called out to a home on High Street around 10 Sunday night. Crews found fire on every floor inside the home upon arrival. Hampton’s Fire Chief Michael McMahon said fighting the fire was a challenge and it was difficult in locating the blaze because it was a large older house. No people or pets were inside the home when flames broke out.
A driver is lucky to be alive after being involved in a fiery crash in Candia. Officials say the driver was traveling on New Boston Road yesterday when their vehicle was involved in an accident and the impact caused the car to burst into flames. The driver ended up being pulled to safety thanks to bystanders and needed treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Authorities said a man who shot a Vermont police officer and was being sought for more than 24 hours after the incident was arrested early Sunday morning. Vermont State Police said 38-year-old Scott Mason of St. Johnsbury was taken into custody around 2 a.m. Sunday, at a house next door to where the shooting took place Friday.
A New Jersey man who was ice climbing Shoestring Gully in the White Mountains fell about 60 feet and had to be carried out by rescuers. New Hampshire Fish and Game said the 55-year-old was climbing with a friend and fell on a steep section near the top of the climb. Authorities say the man suffered an arm and head injury.
Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at nearly a 150-year old home in Rochester on Saturday. The fire tore through the barn of a house on Portland Street in the city, which was once part of a sprawling farm. No word on the cause of that blaze to that historic house.
