Fire officials say they’re prepared to deal with the bitter cold temperatures the state will be experiencing this weekend. Low temperatures could hit the single digits and its possible wind chills may drop below zero. First responders are in contact with the National Weather Service and homeless shelters to make sure everyone can get out of the cold. Warming shelters in several communities will be open and anyone in need of assistance can dial 211.
An investigation is underway into what caused a crash in Nashua that involved a school bus. The head-on collision between that bus and a car happened yesterday in the area of Tinker Road and Damper Circle. The driver of the vehicle was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and no one on the bus was hurt. Anyone who saw the accident is asked to come forward.
In just a few weeks, C&J Bus customers will have to pay to park their vehicles. For decades, the company has offered free parking at its lots in Portsmouth and Dover but that will no longer be the case. Work is already underway on a paid parking ticketing system and beginning January 13th, it’ll cost four dollars a day to park at the Portsmouth Transportation Center. C&J says there have been issues with people using their free lots as long-term storage for their cars.
