The NH state Attorney General’s Office is investigating what is being called a suspicious death in Strafford County.  Officials responded to the area of High Street in Somersworth last night after getting a call about a shooting.  A man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead moments after first responders got to the scene and another man was also found injured.  Authorities say there’s no threat to the public and an autopsy on the person who died is set for today.

North Hampton Police Chief Robert LaBarge Junior is resigning from his role.  This comes as the North Hampton Select Board accepted LaBarge’s resignation last week, which will be effective on January 16th.  Current Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh has been selected to serve as the town’s interim police chief while the town conducts a search for permanent replacement.  LaBarge has only served as chief for 16-months, but in his resignation letter he says he is pursuing new professional and personal growth opportunities.

New Hampshire’s population is continuing to grow.  That’s according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau which shows that the state’s population has grown by two-point-three-percent since 2020.  That equates to just over 31-thousand new residents during the time.  Over the same time frame, the national population has increased by three-point-three percent.
