No Injuries After Flames Destroy 99-Year-Old Sawmill in Boscawen

No injuries are reported after flames destroyed a nearly century-old local business early Monday morning in Boscawen.

Fire officials say the blaze at the Colby Sawmill on High Street flared up around 4 a.m.

Roughly 10 people had worked at the mill.

The mill’s owners, who reportedly had been planning their retirement, say the facility had been in business for 99 years.

Cause of the fire is under investigation. However, officials say a lightning strike may have sparked the blaze.
