NY Man Faces Federal Charges in Alleged Plot to Sneak Immigrants From Canada Into NH
A New York man is facing federal charges after he was busted last month for trying to bring nine undocumented immigrants into New Hampshire from Canada.
Border Patrol officials say 27-year-old Abraham Hernandez faces three federal counts of smuggling immigrants across the border.
The immigrants, eight from Mexico and one from Guatemala, were taken to the Beecher Falls Border Patrol station for further investigation.
Court officials say Hernandez could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
