Passing of Old Man of the Mountain Observed

It’s Old Man of the Mountain Day in New Hampshire.

Twenty-two years ago, the stone formation on Cannon Mountain that came to be known as Old Man of the Mountain — an iconic symbol of New Hampshire — collapsed due to natural forces.

Profile Plaza now stands in tribute to the Old Man.

It’s entirely funded by private donations.

The state observed Old Man of the Mountain Day for the first time two years ago.
