Portsmouth Man Charged with Hate Crime Faces New Complaints
Kevin O’Leary is now facing two Civil Rights Act complaints on top of previous felony charges for allegedly using a hammer to smash two Star of David light sconces outside Temple Israel on State Street.
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella on Friday announced the additional ‘enforcement action’ against O’Leary, 31, of Portsmouth, who was indicted on a hate crime charge earlier this summer.
The new civil complaint alleges the destruction of each lantern constitutes a separate act, and O’Leary was ‘motivated by a combination of religion, national origin, and ancestry when he smashed the two lanterns.
