Seabrook Selectmen Meeting Cut Short Over Racist Claims
Tensions between two selectmen flared Monday as one board member accused another of racist remarks they believed disqualified her from being named chair.
Monday’s Seabrook Board of Selectmen meeting was less than four minutes long, cut short as newly appointed chair Theresa Kyle called for the cameras to be shut off.
She was attempting to cut off Selectman Ravi Ravikumar, who said her past remark to him of ‘go back to where you came from’ meant she shouldn’t have been nominated to assume the role of chair.
Kyle was appointed chair Monday by a 2-1 vote.
‘Racism at the leadership level cannot be tolerated,’ Ravikumar said during Monday’s meeting.
