State DOT Looking to Hire Plow Drivers for Winter Season
The calendar may say it is fall right now, but the State Department of Transportation already has its eye on winter.
The agency is seeking millions of dollars that will be used to help fill hundreds of plow driver positions that need to be filled.
The DOT commissioner says that such a high vacancy rate impacts efforts to keep the roads clear of snow and ice during cold weather months.
Finding and retaining plow drivers has been tough in recent years since many of them have decided to take higher-paying jobs.
