State Investigating Purchaser in Laconia Land Deal
New Hampshire’s Bureau of Securities Regulation is investigating the chosen buyer for a major land deal in Laconia.
Robynne Alexander offered $21.5 million dollars for the site, which she has envisioned as the home of a luxury resort.
The bureau is charged with protecting investors against fraud and is looking into Alexander’s past business dealings.
These include several lawsuits from investors, foreclosures against Alexander, unpaid taxes, and a bankruptcy protection filing last year, which was dismissed.
Commissioner of Administrative Services Charlie Arlinghaus says Alexander must come up with the purchase price in cash by April 22nd.
