State Sending Out Texts Involving Brand-New Alert System

The state is sending out text messages informing residents about a switch to a brand-new emergency alert system.

While the messages may look suspicious because they provide a link to a dot-com address instead of dot-gov, officials say they are legitimate.

The link brings people to a website where they can sign up for the new system. It will be going live effective January 1st.
