Strafford County Commissioners Give Sheriff Brave Option, Take Leave or Face Removal
Strafford County commissioners voted unanimously Monday to give Sheriff Mark Brave until Tuesday to accept their third offer to go on paid administrative leave now that he is facing eight felony charges brought against him by the state attorney general.
If Brave declines, the commissioners will send a petition for Brave’s removal from office to the county’s delegation of state representatives, which would have to vote on it, in accordance with state law.
Brave did not attend Monday’s special meeting of county commissioners.
Reached by phone, he said he will confer with his attorneys before making his decision.
