Trump Administration Reaches Settlement With Maine Over Transgender Athletes

The Trump administration is agreeing to a settlement with Maine over policies on transgender athletes. That’s according to the state’s attorney general, Aaron Frey, who says his office withdrew a lawsuit filed in objection to the funding freeze of around three-million-dollars.
The dispute began in February after President Trump told Governor Janet Mills the state must comply with an executive order banning transgender athletes from womens’ sports or lose federal funding.
The state’s lawsuit claimed the freeze would affect food preparation at Maine schools.
Mills says the settlement means healthy meals will be preserved for about 170,000 schoolchildren.
