Concord Charter School Founder Pleaded Guilty to Embezzling

The founder of the Capital City Public Charter School in Concord is awaiting sentencing in January.

Stephanie Alicea of Boscawen pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing $73,000 in U.S. Department of Education funds.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said an audit found money had been used for personal expenses including gambling, travel and dining.

Capital City closed after the 2019-2020 school year and declared bankruptcy in March 2021.
