A poll released this week shows New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu with a 61-percent job approval rating, about the same as last August.  Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s approval rating is 51-percent, up from 47-percent last summer. Senator Maggie Hassan’ rating is also 51-percent, up from 44-percent in August.  The poll from the Saint Anselm College Survey Center at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics was conducted last week and has a margin of error of two-point-seven percent.  

The Manchester Board of Mayor and Alderman has approved a two-month extension for the temporary emergency shelter on Beech Street.  Manchesterinklink.com reported the city’s Director of Housing Initiatives sought the extension saying it would give many of the shelter’s regular occupants additional time to find more permanent housing.  The scheduled closing date is now June 30th.   

An anonymous syringe disposal pilot program will be launched in Dover.  There are already disposal boxes at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital, the Dover Public Library and other locations.  The new initiative will add boxes at several other places citywide.  Organizers say the goal is to decrease the amount of improperly disposed of needles. 

 

Workers at the Starbucks on Marketplace Drive in Rochester want union protection.  They say they have concerns about workplace safety and getting enough hours to qualify for benefits.  Since 2021, workers at nearly 300 Starbucks have voted to unionize.  The Rochester location is the first in New Hampshire where a union vote is expected later this spring.
