Man Faces Assault and Reckless Conduct Charges in Loudon Shooting
According to WMUR, a man who was shot in the shoulder Thursday in Louden called 911 while driving to the police station.
Steve Bergendahl, 48, of Amherst, faces charges including first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
According to the affidavit, the victim said he confronted the suspect in a driveway on School Street in Loudon, saw Bergendahl with a gun and tried to grab it, and that’s when he was shot.
The victim said that while on the ground, Bergendahl then kicked him and threatened to shoot him again, according to court paperwork.
Bergendahl told officers the incident did not happen in that way. He said the man who was shot came to the house, started yelling at him and punched him in the head repeatedly, and that’s when he drew his gun to defend himself.
