Health Officials Voice Concern After 2 Stray Kittens Test Positive for Rabies
State health officials have determined that two stray kittens found this month in North Conway tested positive for rabies, and authorities are trying to get in touch anyone who might have had contact with them.
Authorities say a well-meaning cat lover grabbed one of the kittens and took it to a Conway-area shelter last week.
The kitten tested positive for rabies on Monday.
The other kitten, which also found its way to the shelter, tested positive on Thursday.
Contact with infected felines can, in some cases, lead to death by rabies.
If you’ve come into contact with any stray felines, you should get yourself checked out.
