Child Critical Following Friday’s Canoe Accident in Franklin
A local man is facing charges after his canoe capsized late Friday afternoon in Franklin, leaving one of his two children in critical condition.
Franklin police say officers were called to an area near Franklin Library around 4 p.m., arriving to find the suspect on shore suffering from exposure and screaming at them to call 9-1-1.
One of the officers reportedly pulled both children, ages five and three, from the frigid water.
Both were hospitalized.
As of Saturday night, one was listed in critical condition; the other reportedly was conscious and responsive.
The man, who police say had been drinking before the accident, was subsequently hit with a DUI charge.
