Manchester Man Accused of Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

A Manchester man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend because of her sexual orientation.

Lavaughn Barnett allegedly hit, strangled and bit his ex-girlfriend in August of last year after the victim told Barnett she was bisexual and didn’t want to be with him anymore.

Barnett faces a civil complaint over the matter with prosecutors saying he violated the victim’s civil rights.

He also faces criminal charges for the assault.
