Opening Day For Major League Baseball and The Boston Red Sox
For the first time since 1968, Opening Day for baseball will feature all 30 MLB teams hitting the diamond. Regardless of Red Sox expectations, this is a day to celebrate the return of baseball. The Boston Red Sox are set to play their home opener this afternoon at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles.
It’s expected to be sunny when the first pitch goes out at 2:10 this afternoon, but it is going to be cold and windy with temps around 40 degrees and sub-freezing wind chills. This year, the Red Sox are looking a lot different than last season. Rafael Devers is back but Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Nate Eovaldi are all gone.
A player with New Hampshire connections will be at the game. Outfielder Ryan McKenna, who plays for Baltimore, graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, made his major league baseball debut in 2021.
You can hear the Boston Red Sox all season long starting today at 1:10 on News Talk 98.1 Am/1270 WTSN.
